Stormy Kromer Hunting Cap

Bronson

  • This kind of hat is very popular in the Midwest of the United States. Hunters and outdoor people love it. It was named after George Stormy Kromer (1876-1970), a semi-professional baseball player who later worked as a railway engineer. When Cromer worked on the train, his hat was often blown down by the strong wind. In 1903, he asked his wife Ida to make a hat for him to wear more firmly and keep warm. She sewed a pair of earlobes on a baseball cap and tied them with a rope to make the cap stay stronger on the head. The earlobes can also be pulled down to protect the ears. It's a smart decision, so the Kromer hat that can resist the wind and snow was born.
