The experience gained in the Battle of Tarawa has changed the design of the Marine Corps battle suit.In March 1944, the official adopted a new style of P-44 suit.

This suit is characterized by in the case of less carrying equipment, carry the necessary combat equipment as much as possible. Therefore, the P-44 has more bags and is more complicated in construction. There is a large pocket on each side of the top placket, a rectangular pocket on the left chest, a flap with a USMC seal on it.There are buttons under the collar to facilitate the installation of anti-gas hoods when necessary. The cuffs are tightened by a metal button and two buttonholes, and the color is a little grayish green than the P-41.

In terms of design, compared with the P-41, the P-44 is undoubtedly excellent and advanced. However, due to the late implementation time, the P-44 was not used in large quantities. It was not until 1945 that the Battle of Iwo Jima appeared in a small amount. Many Marines still wore old P-41 combat uniforms until the end of World War II.
