Souvenir jackets, also known as suka-jans, have a vibrant a rich history dating back to the post-war occupation of Japan. Servicemen stationed overseas would have these jackets made for themselves or a loved one, embroidered with local motifs and imagery to bring home as a memento.
The jacket features a tiger's head on the left chest and the word "福" (Luck) on the right chest with a fox motif embroidered on the back and the hymn "Until we meet again, my Lord is with you," a kind of "blessing for good luck." The design is based on a very rare vintage design from the early 1960s.
This jacket is made of thick jungle cloth, which has relatively strong wind resistance, suitable for spring and autumn wear, and the strong fabric makes it easy to wear.
