This is a reproduction of the World War II simplified Cowboy Jacket. Despite wartime law L-181 stipulating that coveralls could not have more than four buttons, this jacket retains a five-button front. However, the back adjustment button, which was not prohibited by the law, was removed and replaced with rivets to reinforce the pleated back (the law only restricted back adjustment buckles on pants). The pocket flaps were also retained, reflecting manufacturers’ varied interpretations of the L-181 decree at the time.
Our simplified World War II Cowboy Jacket is made of 14 oz. denim, double-needles stitching, smooth and firm stitch, custom iron laurel buttons that rust after long wear and washing, with brass saucer rivets for a retro feel. Cut to fit the cut, not loose and not tight. Pre-shrink wash water treatment has been carried out.

This denim jacket was first introduced in 1931 as a design specifically for cowboys, earning it the name ‘Cowboy Jacket,’ which later became known as the ‘Rider Jacket.’ While its pre-World War II appearance was similar to the 1st denim jacket, its sewing details and cut were notably different. Featuring a pre-shrunk process, the fabric offered greater stability, contributing to its widespread popularity.
