This product is a faithful reproduction of the 1969 M-65 Field Jacket. It features a "KING KONG COMPANY" embroidered patch on the left sleeve and a parachutist qualification patch on the right chest. This design recreates Robert De Niro's iconic look in Taxi Driver (1975). In the film, De Niro wore an M-65 jacket with an aluminum zipper, likely from the 1966-69 period.
The jacket is made from 345g custom nylon-cotton sateen fabric. It has a sturdy feel and strong wind resistance. The early OG-107 color scheme adds to its authenticity. The blended fabric is more durable and quick-drying compared to pure cotton.
The M-65 is the result of continuous improvements from the M-41, M-43, and M-51 models. It keeps the four large bellows pockets from the M-43 and M-51. The waist drawstring is internal to prevent snagging. Expandable gauntlet cuffs protect the hands. Shoulder straps are included for design accuracy, as they were originally used for dragging casualties or attaching insignia. Back pleats increase mobility, and the slightly tapered waist gives a sharp, streamlined look.
The collar includes a zipper and a hidden hood. The inner hem is open for added comfort. The sizing has been slightly refined compared to the original military version for a more tailored fit.

The M-65 Equipment System evolved from the M-51, designed for Cold-Wet (above -10°C) and Cold-Dry (below -10°C) conditions. The Cold-Wet gear includes wool or cotton undershirts, wool shirts, and field jackets and pants with their liners. The Cold-Dry gear adds a Parka and Arctic Trousers with liners for extreme cold.
The M-65 Field Jacket was introduced in 1965 for the Vietnam War's harsh conditions and later became standard U.S. military issue until 2009, when replaced by ECWCS.
