No matter how much inspiration and materials are mined from history, there are always items that are neglected in the world of military uniforms. The Submarine Soldier N-1 Jacket is one of them. Even in professional military books, it is rarely mentioned because it is not an official jacket issued, but Civilian Jacket purchased spontaneously.
Since submariners spend a lot of time underwater, their personal attire and appearance are not strictly regulated. Practicality comes first. In contrast to the official deck jacket, the submarine jacket is not covered by wool from the waist to make it easier to use the deck suspenders, which are more flexible and warm enough.
The fur collar of the submarine jacket is similar to the shape of the fur collar of the early flight jacket (M422). It is a fleece collar with flaps and a windbreak buckle. The white pure wool inside is thick and heavy to cope with the harsh environment.
In order to best determine fit, it may be helpful to compare our garment’s measurements to a similar garment you already own. Lay your garment on a flat surface and take all measurements from the outside of the garment.

I regret getting the wool lined version. The wool is really coarse and keep pricking me in the back through my t-shirt/sweater. I've never dealt with a wool lining like this. Usually jackets are lined with soft shearling. On the good side, the jacket feels heavy, solid and well made. Just sad that this was my first experience with Bronson. Will likely not keep the jacket. Oh and the wool keep shedding. Every time I put it on, I keep getting covered in hair. Tried brushing it and using the hair dryer to get rid of excess hair, but to no avail.
As always, Bronson nailed it. I am happy i found you, a company which stands high in quality and workmanship. All the pieces that have bought from you are absolutely great. This jacket is no exception, warm and fine to wear.
Wanted a warm military jacket and Bronson delivered with their price and quality. I know the jacket says no wash, but it depends on what you want. If you want it to shrink a tiny bit and to get a more used look. Cold wash is the way to go. Fabric fades pretty fast and develops a nice patina. Sheep lining is really warm. Just wish the wool was a bit softer, as it is a bit less soft than I expected.
This deck jacket is awesome!
The fabric and the cut are perfect and match the pictures.
I am 173 cm ( 5'6 tall) for 73kg (161 lbs), I chose the size 38 and the wear effect is fit.
Bravo Bronson MFG!
Well made, warm jacket with attention to detail. 38inch fits perfectly, I am 173cms and 73kg.
Fantastic N-1 (Submariner version)!
Of the four N-1 Deck jacket variants I have (Buzz Rickson, Eat Dust and 2 Bronson) this is my favorite and also the warmest one!
I get compliments all the time and since jt differs slightly from the standard N-1 pattern with regular cloth lining in sleeves rather then the regular N-1 with pattern faux fur all around, it feels smoother to wear but still very warm due to the thick wool liner in the rest of jacket.
The cut is also slightly different and sports a great profile including the larger fleece collar.
Although slightly more expensive, it is worth every penny…

really well made jacket!! I love it, warm and durable, thanks bronson!
Jacket is much better than the pictures.
All sizing is correct and it fits perfectly just as a jacket should do.
Great quality and it will be warm with the wool lining well made at a great price.
I'm very happy with the jacket. It was a good choice to make.
I'm sure i'll have no regrets with this jacket in the colder seasons..
Rare version of N-1 is perfect for winter.super warm and styles.I love it and Bronson clothing.my chest is 40 and size 40 is perfect fit.
Love this jacket! Looks great, very well made, good quality materials, and super warm. I've had lots of compliments wearing it. I have a 45in chest and it fits fine but perhaps is a little tight with a thick jumper under it (although the jacket's so warm I rarely need to wear a thick jumper). Great jacket - well worth the money and the wait for shipping (took about 2 weeks to the UK).
