Wonderful jacket, although a bit snug in the armpits. I'd recommend going one size up for comfort. But overall superb quality and as usuall - great support from the Bronson team.

Customer photo review of 1940s US Navy N-1 Deck Jacket - Cost-effective Version

I loved this jacket so much that I ordered a second one 3 years later but... Received my second 1940s US Navy N‑1 Deck Jacket and noticed significant differences in both the material and styling compared to the first one I purchased back in 2023. The two jackets differ noticeably. Differences observed: 2023 Jacket: -Brighter yellow outer shell -Stiffer outer shell material -Different wool/cotton lining -Corduroy pocket lining 2026 Jacket: -Darker yellow outer shell -Softer outer shell material -Different wool/cotton lining -No corduroy pocket lining Photos are attached for reference. I have to say, I do like the new wool lining and the softer outer shell on the 2026 version. But I still prefer the color and the corduroy pocket detailing from the 2023 release. I did reach out to customer service about the differences, and they were great — they confirmed that, yes, the design was updated from the original. Overall, I still love the jacket for its details and the way it looks, and it’s the first jacket that’s actually kept me warm through Minnesota winters. One other key thing is that the armpits are a bit snug so would size up.

Fantastic jacket, well made and warm. Like all mailorder clothes purchase, always difficult to be sure on the size you require. I am 1.82M and 69kg and like to wear fitted clothing, so I did order a 38, Ross at Bronson very kindly email me back to confirm the size, after a few emails, on his advise I change the size to 40. Well I am glad I did, as the inner fur kind of make the jacket a litle smaller. So I would advise going up a size. I love the jacket but do miss an inner basic pocket.

Great reproduction quality with good historical preservation of the original US Navy N-1 Deck Jacket. Excellent customer service experience to get the precision size selection (I chose size 38, customer service representative Mia recommended for size 40 based on her product knowledge). It turned out that size 40 is definitely the right size for me. Thank you Mia!

Customer photo review of 1940s US Navy N-1 Deck Jacket - Cost-effective Version

My N1 jacket arrived quite quickly at Liège airport, but had a 9 days delay at the local carrier, maybe because of Xmas business (received it 11th Dec.). Quality is as I expected, based on the other stuff, I already bought at Bronson Mfg. The jungle cloth is 100% cotton by the way, which is not totally clear from the product description on the website. So I am happy with this. I am 188cm and 84.5 kgs and I usually wear a European size L. Only sometimes for jackets I need an XL size. So after consulting the Bronson customer support, I received the clear recommendation for their largest size 44, which I ordered. The jacket fits tight at my shoulders. The length of the sleeves is ok (I have long arms). I want to wear this jacket just with chambray, denim and max. flannel shirts and for this, the 44 size is exactly right. I cannot wear a jumper, sweater or hoodie under this jacket, because it feels uncomfortable snug. For the really cold days, I prefer to wear my Peacoat with a turtle neck jumper. This is my info for the bigger guys around. So if you are tall and +90kgs this jacket might perhaps run too slim for you.

Customer photo review of 1940s US Navy N-1 Deck Jacket - Cost-effective Version

The outer shell of the jacket is nicely made, the material seems sturdy and to some degree water repellent, the zipper is also nice — nothing special about this part — the main problems are the color and the liner. The color is, despite what the images on the site might lead you to believe, kind of a greenish khaki and not brownish as the official pictures show. As for the liner: the details section advertises the liner as 80% wool and 20% polyester, the truth is that the liner (and the fur collar) is 50% wool and 50% polyester, it would be nice if the details section was accurate. In terms of feeling the liner is, mostly because of its polywool nature, not very scratchy (or at least not as scratchy as pure wool would be) but at the same time not as soft as a pure fleece lining would be. Overall the construction of the garment is good, received with no loose stitches and no pilling in the lining so far.

Store owner replied: Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review — we really appreciate it. We’re glad to hear the construction and materials met your expectations, and we’re sorry that the color and liner didn’t match what you had in mind. Regarding the liner content, our current product page lists the lining as 50% wool / 50% polyester, but we completely understand how frustrating it can be if the information feels unclear or inconsistent. We’ll double-check the page again and make sure everything is communicated as accurately as possible so customers know exactly what to expect. Thank you again for your honest feedback — it truly helps us improve both our product presentation and customer experience. If there’s anything we can assist you with, our team is here to help.

The perfect jacket for cold (and wet) weather. The waterproofing is great, the drops fall right off. The fluffy collar is also great for those cutting winds. I'm about 6'0" (182cm) and about 155lbs (70kg), and wear a size 40 which fits perfectly, even with a thick sweater.

This jacket, although made for the budget-minded wearer, feels and wears like a top tier made jacket. It is comfortable and warm in the cold months especially out at sea. Fits well and the sleeve length is exactly what I had in mind. Some jacket sleeves make it look like wizard robe sleeves; wider and goes past my wrists. 67" height, 160 lbs, wearing a size 38 jacket.

Great replica of an iconic military jacket! The construction is top notch. It fits and looks great! Obviously, this is made from synthetic materials which is why it is priced so reasonably! They did a great job of replicating the original coat details! I am very happy with this purchase!

Great as, always by Bronson. Got a size 40 (I'm 185cm/75KG) and it's bang on for me. To be honest, the acrylic lining is not even noticeable as any different to the "authentic" lining so why pay more? Top notch.

This N-1 is bang on fit-wise (size 40 fits me at 185cm/75kg) and and always, the quality and attention to detail is perfect. Most of my repro wardrobe is Bronson and it all sits next to the authentic vintage wonderfully. 100%

Nice thick and warm coat, great for the cold days in winter. I like the collar that you can be raised to protect your neck from the wind. I am 1.83m (6'), and weight 61kg (134 lbs) and it fits correctly. However it maybe miss an inner pocket, to store your phone or wallet.

Every thing is great but the zipper would be great if you could get a more robust zipper like in a Carhart — it’s just like my foul weather jacket that kept me warm on the USS Nantahala AO-60 in a North Atlantic crossing winter of 1966

Sleeves are way too long ,they should be a little more trim. Not everybody have very long arms. That's the only thing I didn't like about it. As far as quality and construction of the jacket both of them are great. Customer service was excellent. Neo was really helpful through the whole process, from the beginning to the end.

This is a great jacket! Very warm during our Northern Michigan winters and has been holding up well. My only complaint is the zipper is not the best but does work alright for now. Just disappointing in a jacket of this quality and price to have such a cheap and clunky zipper.
