Shirts with reinforced patches on the shoulders and back date back to the late 19th century, designed as durable work pullovers. The “cigarette pocket” design first appeared in 1929, commonly referred to as the “Flyer” pocket. The name comes from the way the pocket’s bottom can be pushed upwards to release cigarettes. By the 1930s, a new type of shirt emerged, combining ventilation holes with the cigarette pocket for improved functionality.

Overall rating: 4.9 / 5 from 35 reviews.
My daily drivers for work are the 1935 cigarette pocket shirt and the 1933 CCC Dungarees. I am more than happy with both of them, both stand up to both the regular shop and field work and the welding I do.
The denim on the shirt especially is very helpfully heavy, and has protected me from welding sparks with very few full burn-through’s, but is still breathable enough to sweat it out in and be for the most part comfortable.
I thoroughly enjoy both products and look forward to the henleys I just ordered to wear under this shirt.
Store owner replied:
Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful feedback. We’re thrilled to hear that the durability, protection, and comfort of the denim met your expectations. We truly appreciate your support and hope you enjoy the Henleys just as much!
I´m so very very happy with this shirt that I just ordered the other style as well. The collar feature gives it a distinct look. Very comfortable and fits well. I´m 183 with 88kg and a size 44 is a lose fit. Looking forward more products like this. Great costumer support btw!

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you’re happy with the shirt, and we appreciate you sharing your sizing experience—it’s helpful for others.
Top quality denim shirt! Love the unique pocket design. Very well made and reasonably priced.
My dear sir’s & ladies at Bronson,
Once again, your sartorial offerings have left an indelible mark upon my discerning sensibilities.
Your garments, with their impeccable craftsmanship, rise far above the common expectations and tired conventions one might anticipate from lesser clothiers.
They are, in a word, exemplary - crafted with a finesse that speaks to the soul of a gentleman who values quality above all else.
I must confess a certain reluctance to pen such effusive praise, for I fear it may deplete your stores before I can secure my next order!
Yet, truth compels me to speak.
At six feet and one inch, with a frame weighing some 219 pounds, I find your XL sizing - or, as you so elegantly denote, size 44 - to be a revelation.
For your t-shirts and undershirts, the XXL proves equally splendid.
What sets your wares apart, however, is the fit - a marvel of tailoring.
The sleeves, so often curtailed in lesser garments, extend to a perfect length, while the shoulders, cut generously, accommodate my broad build with an ease I have seldom encountered.
Truly, your Non-Stock offerings are a triumph of form and function.
I have acquired a wardrobe’s worth of your fine creations, and I shall endeavor to share further appraisals in due course.
This shirt, in particular, has won my heart.
The small pen pocket, so thoughtfully included, serves my daily labors admirably, while the cigarette pocket - repurposed for my mustache comb - adds a touch of practical charm that delights me no end.
My heartfelt gratitude to you, good sirs and ladies of Bronson, for your unwavering commitment to excellence. I shall soon return with further orders, trusting that your looms will continue to weave such treasures.
*If I might be so bold, I humbly request that you reserve a size XL - or 44 - for this devoted patron.
Yours in utmost appreciation,
A gentleman of the West

Thank you for your nice photo and love! We’ll continue to release high-quality products and plan to expand our availability of size 44/XXL in the future ;)
Brilliant quality from Bronson, my favourite shirt with Jeans
Awesome vintage shirt.
Super cool old-school vibe. The denim feels solid but still comfy, and that little cigarette pocket detail is such a nice touch. Fits great, looks better with every wear. Totally worth it.
190cm/86kg
Great shirt with a great fit. 36 was spot on for me. I’m 5ft6 slim.
Love the details and chain stitching.
Beautiful pattern reinforced shoulders, back and elbows.
This is my second order from Bronson Mfg, and they continue to impress. The craftsmanship on this 1930s work shirt reproduction is top-notch—10oz plain denim, triple-needle chain-stitching, reinforced patches, and a perfect vintage feel. The fit is spot on, and the quality far exceeds the price. Shipping to Canada took about two weeks, which was totally reasonable. Can’t wait to break this in. Highly recommend!
it was a little itchy when arrived, but one wash and air dry did away with any discomfort. it also fits well and goes well with high waisted pleated pants
I enjoy your clothes. I just wish that your jeans/trousers were available in longer lengths. All the pairs that I have bought are to short. They look great everywhere else except the length.
Store owner replied:
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re truly happy to hear that you enjoy our clothing. We’re sorry the length of our jeans and trousers hasn’t worked well for you, and we really appreciate you sharing this with us. We’ll keep your suggestion in mind as we continue to improve our sizing options. Thank you again for your support!
Great product at great prices. The XL shirts do run trim.
Store owner replied:
We sincerely apologize for any disappointment with the fit of your shirt. For a slim fit style, we recommend exploring our Old Time Western Shirt.
Love this Shirt!
The cut and fit is great.
along with such great attention to detail.
A real head turner, lots of compliments and people have acually asked me where I bought it from, especially when I wear with the matching 30s work denim jeans.
Great.
Thank you
Great shirt, perfect fit and quality material. Yes, you can spend much more for similar clothes, but why would you? The workmanship is the equal or better than others and I see no difference in the fabric that would want one to spend five times more. Don’t think you can go wrong with the selections or service, great service all around. Thanks!
