From the M-1951, the significant changes were a storable hood, snap closures on the four main pockets, and velcro cuffs. The collar transitioned from a shirt-style collar to an upright collar. The Epaulets present on the M-65 Field Jacket were not present on the 1st-Type M-65, but subsequent models (as this) include them.
