The experience gained at the Tarawa campaign changed the design of the Marine combat uniform.
In March 1944, the P-44 set was officially released. The feature of this uniform is to carry the necessary combat equipment as much as possible, so there are more pockets for the P-44, and it also becomes structurally complicated. There were large pockets on each side of the front placket of the jacket, the left breast has a rectangular pocket with a pocket cover, and the words USMC printed on it. There is a button under the collar to facilitate the installation of a gas masks hood if necessary. Its cuff has a metal button and two buttonholes to tighten the cuff. Its color of P-44 is darker and more profound than P41.
Compared to P-41, there is no doubt that the P-44 is excellent and advanced in design. However, due to the late release, P-44 was not widely used. It was not until 1945 that the battle of Iwo Jima was deployed in small Numbers, many marines wore their old P-41 uniforms until the end of World War II.

High quality reproduction! I handled a few other USMC-hbt repros from wellknown militaria companies before but the BRONSON one is so far the best. I`m 1.90 mtr / 100 kgs and the size 44 fits perfect ... I wear it with denims or with the pictured P-44 monkey pants also from BRONSON

Another solid HBT USMC garment from Bronson. Can be worn as a shirt or a light weight jacket. Dig on this one for regular use.

I have been looking for these P-44 for a very long time. I feel pretty lucky to grabone. The color and cloth are very premium. My weight is 72kg, and my height of 5’8”, brought L size fits nicely. Thank you Bronson.

This is a knock-out piece of gear. Bronson's commitment to quality, accuracy and style shines in this item. When I got it, I was pleased to find that the 38 fits me perfectly, like it's tailored--I usually need a 40 or 42 chest, so that shows you the accuracy of this thing: jarheads who were issued uniforms in this period complained about them being oversized, too. It won't shrink in the wash (at least the P41 jacket didn't), so order a size down. As for detailing, it's off the charts. I put it on and said, "what's with all the flaps and buttons?" The P41 jacket was a very simple thing--the pockets didn't even have flaps! This jacket has a gas flap (for use in chemical warfare) with interior as well as exterior buttons, and there are buttons on the collar to secure a gas-mask hood. WTF? And why are the chest pockets horizontal and so big? I mean they're useful, but it's weird. Bronson doesn't know either, as the product description jsut calls them "large pockets." What was supposed to go in the pockets is interesting: after so many Marines drowned wading across the reef at Tarawa, the jacket (Marines call it a "blouse," but I don't think that would fit the Bronson brand image very well!) was redesigned to fit inflatable rubber swim bladders! I can't imagine they'd be big enough to float a soaked jarhead and his 100 pounds of 782 gear, which is probably why I had never heard of them. But the pockets are really handy for wallet, cell phone, glasses, cap, etc. It's like wearing a purse. Nice item! Highly recommended.

I love the Utility Jacket! I inherited my father's and wore the hell out of until it got stolen out of my truck one night when I was a teenager. Having one again and doing work in and wearing it running errands into town, I feel the jacket wearing in and getting more comfortable the more I wear it!

Very well made. Easy to order on the website, and very fast delivery. I have no complaints at all, this company is tops with me. I'm a veteran, and an older fella, but the vintage military style appeals to me.

Very good quality!! I was a little skeptical at first because of how inexpensive this was but I was surprised at how nice it was when I opened it. The only thing keeping this from being a five star review is the eagle, globe and anchor isn’t stamped on the pocket very well, after just one wash it was nearly non existent, but after just touching it up with a sharpie it looks fine. All in all, great product!!

You really brought tears to the eyes of a Vietnam veteran, reminds him of genuine issue Herringbone twill. Thank you for making this.

Except for the fact that it isn't starched and is "new" green, it is a match for what I wore for so many years. A few washings with powdered bleach it will be perfect!

When ordering, consider ordering a size larger than what you think you need. I ordered (2) of these, the first one was too small and I gave it to a friend. She was excited to see that it "EXACTLY" matched the USMC P-44 her father was wearing in a photo taken during the Korean War. I reordered, got one size larger, and while it now fits, it is still slightly snug to button. Regardless, the workmanship and quality of the herringbone material is truly outstanding, and it appears to be an "exact" reproduction of the P-44 USMC utility blouse. As an aging Marine Veteran, I could not be happier with this purchase and recommend it to anyone interested in Marine Corps uniforms from the early 1950s.

Really pleased, good fit and quality fabric with some nice detailing. I noted the stitching colour is not the same as the original which is a yellow coloured stitch. Overall really nice though
